The National Security Cutter
(NSC) is the largest and most technically advanced
class of cutter in the Coast Guard, with capabilities
for maritime homeland security, law enforcement and
national defense missions. The NSC will replace the
aging 378' High Endurance Hamilton class cutters that
have been in service since the 1960s.
Status
The U.S. Coast Guard commissioned the second National
Security Cutter, Waesche (WMSL 751), on May 7, 2010.
Stratton (WMSL 752) was christened on July 23, 2010
and is 56% complete.
