Senior Command Staff

Commandant

The Commandant is responsible for the overall operation of the vUSCG.  Although he/she is not involved with the day-to-day operations, the Commandant ensures the overall success of the organization.  The Commandant is the only 4-star admiral of the vUSCG.

Vice Commandant

The Vice Commandant also oversees all operations of the vUSCG.  In the Commandant's absence, the Vice Commandant serves as the highest commanding authority of the VUSCG.

The Vice Commandant holds the rank of vVice Admiral, and reports directly to the Commandant.

Chief Administrative Law Judge

The Chief Administrative Law Judge conducts hearings and renders decisions based on the vUSCG/Vatsim Regulations and vUSCG SOPs.  All decisions issued by the CALJ are subject to review by the Commandant and Vice Commandant.

The CALJ holds the rank of vVice Admiral, and reports directly to the Commandant and Vice Commandant.

Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff oversees the following aspects of the VUSCG: Personnel Department, Training Department, Engineering Department, vUSCG Reserves and Public Affairs. 

The vUSCG Chief of Staff also serves as the UNAF Liaison for the vUSCG on the VATSIM Board of Directors.

The vUSCG Chief of Staff holds the rank of vVice Admiral, and reports directly to the Vice Commandant.

Atlantic  Operations Commander

The Atlantic Area Commander (LANTCOM) oversees all operations in the 1st, 5th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Districts of the VUSCG.  LANTCOM appoints all District Commanders and is responsible for the smooth coordination of operations between districts in his area of operations.  All joint missions  within the Atlantic Area are supervised by LANTCOM.

LANTCOM holds the rank of vVice Admiral, and reports directly to the Vice Commandant. LANTCOM and PACCOM are now combined under 1 Commander.

Pacific  Operations Commander

The Pacific Area Commander (PACCOM) oversees all operations in the 11th, 13th, 14th, and 17th Districts of the VUSCG.  PACCOM appoints all District Commanders and is responsible for the smooth coordination of operations between districts in his area of operations.  All joint missions within the Pacific Area are supervised by PACCOM.

PACCOM holds the rank of vVice Admiral, and reports directly to the Vice Commandant.  LANTCOM and PACCOM are now combined under 1 Commander.

The District Commanders oversee all areas of operations within their respective districts.  These duties include (but are not limited to) mission operations, local disciplinary issues, local SOP's, local asset distribution, as well as any special operations specific to their district.  The District Commanders also serve on the VUSCG Senior Staff and are present at all senior staff meetings during vUSCG policy-making meetings.

The District Chiefs of Staff perform many of the same duties as the District Commanders and serve in that capacity in the absence of their District Commander.  Together with the District Commanders, the Chief’s of Staff organize the infrastructure of their District and may assign mission tasking as well as administrative duties to any member of their district.

Chiefs of Staff hold the rank of vCaptain and above, and report directly to their respective District Commander.

Personnel Director

The VUSCG Personnel Director oversees all personnel database activities including (but not limited to) the processing of recruitment applications, the assignment of training graduates to their districts, and the administration of all rank and ribbon awards.

Assistants may be appointed as deemed necessary by the Personnel Director.  Any assistants appointed will report directly to the Personnel Director, while the Personnel Director reports directly to the Vice Commandant.

The Training Director oversees all aspects of vUSCG Training including new Ensign training as well as specialized training and endorsements for pilots of all ranks in the vUSCG. 

Assistants may be appointed as deemed necessary by the Training Director.  Any assistants appointed will report directly to the Training Director, while the Training Director reports directly to the Vice Commandant.

Reserves Commander

The vUSCG Reserves Commander oversees the operations of the vUSCG Reservist Pilots.  The Reserves Director formulates all policies and SOPs regarding the involvement of Reservists in vUSCG missions and activities and represents this important part of our membership at all vUSCG Senior Staff meetings.

Engineering Director

The Engineering Director oversees all of the design and maintenance of scenery and aircraft. 

Assistants may be appointed as deemed necessary by the Engineering Director, based on the assistant’s specific knowledge of aircraft design and/or scenery design and placement.  Any assistants appointed will report directly to the Engineering Director, while the Engineering Director reports directly to the Vice Commandant.

Public Affairs Director

The Public Affairs Director is tasked with creating and maintaining the vUSCG website and publishing the quarterly newsletter The Guardian
