Welcome to the home of the 5th District (D5) of the Virtual United States Coast Guard.  D5 is responsible for safeguarding the Mid-Atlantic region, through air stations located in Atlantic City, NJ, Washington, DC and Elizabeth City, NC. 

D5 hosts the larges fleet of C-130s than any other district along the east coast.  Air Station Elizabeth City also houses the Aircraft Repair and Supply Center (AR&SC) which overhauls and repairs all Coast Guard aircraft.  Any repairs that cannot be completed at other air stations, are sent to Elizabeth City.

D5 is also responsible for conducting the annual International Ice Patrol (IIP).  Since the sinking of the Titanic, the Coast Guard has been tasked with locating and plotting ice burgs that are a hazard to navigation.  The IIP takes place from January thru March of every year.
